SKELETON COAST
by John H Marsh
From right alongside and above the after end of the ship the airmen could
see that there did not appear to be anybody on board, but almost in line
with her stern gun they could see on the beach the disabled motor lifeboat
in which passengers and some of the crew had escaped from the wreck, and
further inland, almost in line with the Royal Air Force rescue launch stowed
athwartship on the deck, they could see a knot of people sitting or lying
around a small sand dune. Prominent on the after deck were two huge tanks
stowed as deck cargo.
